Bailey’s fine art practice dances between representational and abstract to create an aesthetic conversation about events occurring in her environment. With palette knives, spray bottles and repurposed tools, Ferguson’s inter-temporal paintings are a layering process, balancing spontaneity and deliberate intent.
The Nebraska-born artist and designer lives and works on the Hawai’i Island where she investigates the subtleties of color in nature, her greatest inspiration. While surfing, fishing and sky-gazing, Bailey studies the environment to inspire her work. In the past year the elements of fire and water have influenced her work like never before revealing themselves in the two new series DISPLACED and WIPEOUT.
