Bailey A. Ferguson creates paintings that tell a story of time and place.
Bailey’s fine art practice dances between representational and abstract to create an aesthetic conversation about events occurring in her environment. With palette knives, spray bottles and repurposed tools, Ferguson’s inter-temporal paintings are a layering process, balancing spontaneity and deliberate intent.
The Nebraska-born artist and designer lives and works on the Big Island of Hawai’i where she investigates the subtleties of color in nature, her greatest inspiration. While surfing, fishing and sky-gazing, Bailey studies the environment to inspire her work. In the past year the elements of fire and water have influenced her work like never before revealing themselves in the two new series DISPLACED and WIPEOUT.
“Since growing up in a landlocked state I have found a healthy obsession with water and the culture that surrounds it. Travel also plays an important role in my art. I am inherently drawn to experience new horizon vantage points, color palettes, cultures, cities and coast lines.”
Outside of her studio practice, Bailey freelances as a graphic designer and social media manager for several clients bringing color and energy to their brands.
